Daniel Cannizzo is a third generation Millburn-Short Hills resident who is a thoroughly knowledgeable resource for the community. He offers firsthand advice about neighborhoods, schools, cultural opportunities, houses of worship and various activities in the area. His children Victoria and Dalton, and their mother, artist Barbara Dalton, all attended Millburn Schools as fourth and fifth generation township residents.
Formally the proprietor of 40 Main Street and Café Main Restaurants which received a three star review from the New York Times and led to the development of 40 Main Street Catering, Daniel created events for the Governor Christine Whitman, The Prince of Saudi Arabia, Jack Kemp and Governor Tom Kean. His ex chef Tom Colicchio is now Top Chef on TV. Working in hospitality led to meeting many people who were considering relocating to this area. He was able to provide assistance regarding the many advantages of living in this part of the state. For years Daniel introduced patrons and clients to places of interest and referred them to local Realtors, hence his interest in Real Estate began.
In 1991, Daniel acquired his New Jersey Real Estate License and began as a referral associate. In 2000, he joined with top sales associate Karen Eastman Bigos as a full-time partner. They have been a top sales team in Short Hills for several years and together have done over $500 million in sales. In 2010, Dan passed his e-PRO exam and is now considered a certified Internet Pro in Real Estate, a distinction that gives him an edge when helping buyers and sellers.
In 1997, Daniel served as the President of the New Jersey Restaurant Association and presently serves as President of the NJRA Education Foundation and has served locally as Vice President of the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce. He was elected to the Millburn Township Committee and has worked on the Board of Directors of the Millburn Public Library as well as contributing time to the Board of Health and the Downtown Revitalization Committee. Currently Daniel is a member of the North Central Jersey Board of Realtors and the Garden State Multiple Listing Service. Culminating a lifelong interest in structural design, he recently received certification from the national Trust for Historic Preservation.
Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gettysburg College and also studied architecture at the Lays School in Cambridge, England. He then won a classical vocal scholarship to S.U.N.Y., College at Purchase, N.Y. Daniel is an accomplished Tenor who sang regularly at Wyoming Presbyterian Church in Millburn for 20 years and with the Blue Hill Troupe, a charity Gilbert & Sulllivan group in Manhattan. He is also Vice President and performs with Coro Lirico in Chatham with whom he sang at Carnegie Hall in 2008. Daniel also sings with the NJ State Opera Chorus under Maestro Jason Tramm.
